New London Performing Arts Centre - Scholarships

NLPAC offers children the chance to apply for various scholarships including the annual Charlotte Coleman scholarship in memory of the Four Weddings and a Funeral Actress. One student will be chosen from an annual showcase held in November that is open to all NLPAC members to perform at and will receive a years worth of classes in dance, drama and music.

Charlotte Coleman Scholarship Award

Charlotte Coleman
1968 - 2001
 

The Scholarship is dedicated to the memory of the young actress. Charlotte Coleman was born and raised in North London, where she lived until her tragic and untimely death.

Charlotte's work spanned every decade of her life, starting as a very successful child actress playing lead roles in the tevevision shows "Worzel Gummidge" and the "Marmalade Atkins" series. In 1991 Charlotte was nominated for the BAFTA best actress award for her performance in "Oranges are not the only fruit". In the same year she was also nominated for best actress for the Charrington Fringe Awards for her stage role in "Our Own Kind". Recognition also followed with the Royal Television Society Best Performance Award for a scripted performance for "Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit" and a BAFTEA Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role as "Scarlett" in the highly acclaimed "Four Weddings and A Funeral". The Charlotte Coleman award continues to benefit young and aspiring performers at the New London Performing Arts Centre.

Nefeesa Seaton 
2008 Winner

Nefeesa is the 2008 winner of the Scholarship
 
She won the competition this year with a singing piece, ‘Get Happy’ from Summer Stock. The judges were unanimous in their decision, commenting on her lovely voice and great stage presence. 

Nefeesa is using the Scholarship to take classes in Tap, Drama, Singing, Ballet and Piano.

 

Morgan Sass

2007 Winner

Morgan was the 2007 winner of the Scholarship
 
She won with a singing piece, ‘Give ‘em the Old Razzle Dazzle’ from Chicago.
 
Morgan used the Scholarship to take classes in Ballet, LAMDA Drama, American Jazz Tap, Contemporary and Drums! She performed in several pieces for the NLPAC annual show at The Bloomsbury Theatre and took on the role of Rizzo in her school's production of 'Grease'.
Olivia Chemutai

2006 Winner

Olivia was the 2006 winner of the Scholarship.

 

She performed a self choreographed Jazz dance routine to "Roxy" from Chicago.

Olivia benefitted from the Scholarship by taking up classes in Break Dance (with whom she performed at various London Theatre's including Sadler's Wells and as part of the Lord Mayors "Big Dance"), Ballet, Singing, Guitar, Street Dance and Performance Drama.

Sebastian Parker

2005 Winner

Sebastian won the 2005 Charlotte Coleman Scholarship.

 

He performed a song "Frog Prince Search For Love".

 

Sebastian is an aspiring actor and since his Scholarship year has gone on to perform in the West End show "Citty Chitty Bang Bang" and appeared in television series; "Murphy's Law" and "Extras" 

Fabio De Oliveira

2004 Winner

Fabio won the Scholarship in it's second year.

 

He performed a drum kit improvisation.

 

Fabio attended a variety of music lessons during his Scholarship year, as well as performing at Her Majesty's Theatre with the NLPAC Dance Troupe. 

Ethan Kenny

2003 Winner

Ethan was the Scholarships first ever winner in 2003.

 

He performed a comedy improvisation routine! 

 

Ethan took up classes in Performance Drama, LAMDA, Saxophone, Guitar and Singing.
