Ballet
Ballet provides the grounding for all styles of dance, be it jazz, tap or contemporary. It provides the student with the essential tools to progress as a dancer including technique, posture, muscle development and expression. Following a syllabus allows the student to develop memory skills and to build and improve on the core exercises week by week. Classes are adapted for every age and ability enabling the student to get the most from ballet.

Tap
Tap is a great style to learn, it is challenging, energetic, fun and a real skill to have. We have both ISTD exam and American Jazz tap classes available. Exam classes follow a credited syllabus and enable students to work towards a graded examination. American Jazz tap classes offer students the chance to work purely on stylised choreographed routines whilst at the same time learning the techniques.

Gymnastics
NLPAC can provide private and small group lessons. Incorporating gymnastics with dance performance increases the dynamics of choreography even further.

Jazz
Jazz has a solid background in Ballet but the difference is that every teacher teaches their own specific style. At NLPAC our Jazz teachers vary their classes to incorporate lyrical, West End styles e.g. Fosse, Chicago, Fame and Commercial Jazz. Classes also focus on the techniques required to execute a Jazz routine with precision and clarity for example; pirouettes, extensions, flexibility and music interpretation.

Contemporary
The emphasis of contemporary is on finding the impetus behind the movement and allowing the fluidity and weight of the body to take us to where we’re going. The class is very physical, and so will greatly improve the dancer’s strength and stamina as they progress. Contemporary class is vital for anyone wishing to enter onto the GCSE Dance course as this is the core technique used.

General Dance
This is a class for 7–10 year olds, designed to give them a fun introduction to jazz and other styles of dance, building up a good knowledge of the basic techniques and styles. The class incorporates a warm up and dance routine.

Break Dance

Break dancing, also known as "B-boying" or "B-girling", is a dynamic style of dance that is part of Hip Hop culture and emerged out of the Hip Hop movement in the South Bronx of New York City. Breakdancing is one of the many elements of Hip Hop culture. This unique form of dancing is very acrobatic and creative, incorporating a lot of floor work, quick foot work and positive, strong attitude!

Street Jazz

Street is high energy and very stylised. Dance routines include movements such as popping, locking, funk, jamming and hip hop hand movements. The music used in class is very urban, hip hop with a mix of beats and rhythms. Classes begin with a jazz based warm up followed by a routine that can be learnt and extended over the course of two or three classes.
